House extension on Gabriola Island, foundation on a midden
We installed twelve screw piles in a midden to extend Paul’s house. Each individual pile has a weight bearing capacity of over 15,000lbs. All twelve piles were installed and immediately ready to build on in just three hours. If Paul were to use a traditional concrete foundation the prep work alone would take days to complete. We saved Paul thousands of dollars in archeology fees because a screw pile does not remove material from the earth, therefore they are midden friendly. Screw piles are ideal to use on the Gulf Islands due to their non-intrusive and eco-friendly aspects.
